Ok, I'm sure you are all aware of the current situation on Windermere. we were promised that no speed restriction would be put in place after Coniston was banned. The LDNPA have broken their word and gone right ahead with a plan that has absolutly no foundation for implementation.
http://www.waf.uk.com/home_bmt_report.html - says it all. Action must be taken, We must unite - We cannot let this this happen to us. It is an insult to the sports persued on Lake Windermere and a down right unjust measure. You will (if currently registered to the Lake) have recieved a pack today titled "Windermere, the lake - Planning and managing its future" I'm sure you will agree that it makes for interesting reading. This booklet is the final straw - we have to take action over it. I urge you to (as requested in the flyer) reply with your views. I am not asking for you to lie - please give honest answers. it is time to give the LDNPA some truth back. Please do not let this possibility pass you by. By filling it in, you are not just doing your own bit - you are in a small way helping to keep a community alive; Bowness, Ambleside and the surrounding area will lose milions of pounds every year from lost tourist revenue if we leave. If you value your time spent on Windermere act now! In the meantime we need more ideas and plans to help save the Lake - what can be done, who can be involved etc... Please reply with any ideas -At the end of the day, its a shared Lake.. but no where else comes close to this public facility in the UK - its all we have left. Thanks for your support, Mike if you are not registered to the lake or have not got your pack please PM me and I will send one out to you. ANYONE who has an interest in the lake has a right to thier views and the LDNPA should here them! |

Out of curiosity, do you know how the "powers that be" intend to enforce the ban once it takes effect? Will the lake be "policed" and, if so, by whom?
In addition, I don't know whether Article 14 of the new Human Rights Act legislation may have some relevance here - ie. prohibition of discrimination. "The enjoyment of the rights and freedoms set forth in this Convention shall be secured without discrimination on any ground" After all, we could be classed as a "minority group" and, as such, we are being directly discriminated against. I'm not totally clued up about this sort of thing but I'm sure it could be an extremely powerfull tool to add a bit of gentle persuasion. I am still fairly new to this sport but this sort of autocratic behaviour by the powers that be disgusts me. Out of curiosity, do you know whether the Sports Council, the BWSF or any other governing body are doing much (if anything) to help our cause? Smudge  |

By the way if you've had the doc through from the park 'cos you're a registered user, get off your ass and reply to the questions they ask us ... remember this is an organisations who does things by numbers ie. will only recognise anything that is in writing so get to it ...

Hey Mr Pimp !
would it be possible to put a downloadable version of the questionnaire on the WAF web-site for those of us without boats ? Also how about co-ordinating something with the WAF so everyone posted their replys on the same day ? I imagine that the LDNPA would be a bit surprised if hundreds of letters turned up on the same day !

Dudes
Can't put a questionnaire on the WAF website 'cos the guy who does it is away for the moment. I think if you go the LDNPA's website you'll find the questions on there - you'll just have to dig around, but get onto it pronto 'cos the deadline for getting stuff back to the park is 10th March Laters Matt |
