I think you misunderstood me. i was not accusing YOU of slagging British wakeboarding i was just saying that if princeofwales is going to do it then a better choice of forum is needed if he doesn't want to get shot down.

as jeremy says i do get a bit prickly but the last thing i want to do is discourage you or anybody else from wakeboarding or posting on here.

And can I add the following generally about forums and the like.

It's very difficult sometimes to get the correct message across via a forum posting ops:

This is due to the written word not containing all the stuff you get for free when talking face to face.. e.g. eye contact, inflection, tone of voice etc..

So... what tends to happen is that if a mildy or totally non-personal comment gets posted and a flame war can erupt quicker than we can step in.

In general the odd battle is handy for web statistics as everyone likes a good ruck.. however we tend to stop them when they go on a bit and the argument overtakes the original point of the post.

Why not hang around in the forums a bit more to check the overall vibe
The vast majority of other postings help out riders who like to chat with people who love the sport as much as you!

Any questions drop me a line and we'll be glad to help out.

Hi, the short answer is I deleted the whole topic.

This may seem a bit on the drastic side but as we don't make a living out of this site I didn't have the time to split out the beneficial posts from the flame posts ;-(

For more info on flame wars and the topic see the new vote post:

An interesting thing to note is that the US sites (e.g. Wakeboarder.com) have had a lot of trouble keeping their forums under control recently. We're lucky enough to be small enough to keep an eye on.. maybe with greater success we'll end up getting stricter and stricter to protect us from legal battles and the like.
