Think the other reviews sum it up pretty well. Only been to princess out of season but seemed less pretentious. Don't know how it compares for getting busy peak times but they have two cables as a pose to Thorpes 1.
Limited number of sliders/kickers on the cable I went on at princess. 1 slider 1 kicker( kicker was more like a mini ramp a bit taim really) The second wasn't open but looked much better stocked with things to hit. Thorpes really well stocked with kickers and sliders. The kickers are nice. One on either side of the cable which is good if you can only hit em healside. There's a diddy one aswell which is good for people that havn't hit a kicker before or trying stuff on a skate. There's a big ski ramp there to but it trashes your board. The one thing I dont get about Thorpe though is why the smallest slider's right in the middle of the lake so if your just learning you'll spend all day swimming and queuing. Princess have this bob on. The sliders right next to the bank just where the entry to the cable is. If you're down that way and want to ride behind a boat I wouldn't go to either there's plenty of other great places close by. |

Very new to wakeboarding and have only been to Princes , so cannot comment on JB.
Found Princes very relaxed and everyone, no matter how good ,extremely helpful and not intimidating in any way. Everyone always offering help and advice , will definately be returning this year ![]() |

Ok. From my experiences....
Princes: GREAT shop, great changing facilities/bar/food, 2 cables = less queueing. Not so good if you want to practise hitting jumps/sliders, etc as options are limited (or were the last time I was there). Closer to London so more likely to be busy. Thorpe: Great variety of things to hit (Beetle anyone?). Further from town so might be a bit quieter. Good bar/food. Shop not as good as Princes. Less said about the changing facilities I think the better. I have to say that both places are friendly enough. Of course you get the regulars at both that seem quite cliquey, and there are always one or two that have an attitude - remember they had to learn once too. This season I'll be going mostly to Thorpe 'cos I want to work on my obstacles. Anyone know what the boat is like at Thorpe? |
