It's cool - I think it's great that you're doing it. I'm a beginner myself so can't give any advice anyway. I just remembered seeing people stack it on the cable, and that has an immediate pull, where a boat ramps up more slowly. You're right though - it is all timing - I've also seen people leave the jump so late that they can raley as they launch.
By the way, did you get to Oxford, and if so how cold was it? I nearly froze me hands off on Saturday, flippin' air temperature was so low.

All weekend? Sweet!! That outclasses mine a couple of weeks ago where it was 3:30 PM on Saturday before I could face hitting the water.
Jealous of the Spain thing - I really wanted to go to X-treme Gene. A guy at work has been there a few times (although he's a swerver), and he really rates it - although he did recommend picking a time when Matt Crowhurst is out there. I never did sort out my wakebording holiday, and now they've just announced a shed-load of redundancies at work, so I may skip it and conserve funds, just in case. Not happy.
