Hey there Rich,

How you doin' long time no speak? You gonna be paying me a visit at the Boat Show this year, I believe you still owe me a beer for that rather smart looking push-hanger you won! Is it helping out with the training?

I'm glad you like the new mag. I am actually quite pleased with its progress myself. The next issue actually came out today, so its funny you asked.

There is the full report from the Wakeboard Nationals, plus some more tips to get you up to scratch. There's also a piece on the Windermere and all the pantsy stuff thats going on up there. You'll have to let me know what you think to that article!

Happy reading and stay in touch.

Ema

I too picked up a copy of the fore mentioned magazine from WHsmith
recently but Can somebody clarify something for me.

Is the "EDGE" the magazine dead ? I noticed that its web site disappeared along time ago.

As far as the new magazine goes, why do you feel the need to add a token bit of waterskiing coverage. should we not associate ourselves more with ... say kiteboarders, rather than waterskiers.

It's a bit like the reverse of the dailymail SKI&snowboard magazine, parents buy them for ski articles but they know there's a couple of snowboard pages for the kids,

So here we have a wakeboard magazine that have a couple of pages of waterskiing stuff for our parents to flick through.

Also, I used to buy a "French" wakeboard magazine which I picked up going through various airports but it too have disapeared from the shelves and its website is also gone. Is it also dead ? Is there a replacement ? I always considered France to have a much bigger wakeboard scene than UK but if even THEY can't financially support a magazine then heaven help us !

Hey There,

So you wanna know what's dead and what's not.. Well as far as I know the French magazine has gone and went quite a while ago. I believe Jean Claude was the publisher and folded it long before Wake Publishing closed (publishers of The Edge Magazine).

Wake Publishing closed in December last year, and I moved to Arcwind to launch Wakeboard & Waterski Magazine. The Edge was then passed over to CSL and is now part Sportsboat & Rib Magazine. So it is now a 20ish page section in SBoat.

With regards to the Waterski in our mag, well it is good to stay in contact with what these guys are up to! After all believe it or not many wakeboarders ski and vice versa. Lets not have an us and them situation huh? We're all in it for enjoyment, some like it on lolly sticks and some like it on tea trays!

ok so the skiers do have a right to their own magasine i beleive it is published by a bunch of fat bearded old men and it goes by the name of the British Waterski and Waterski mag!
no offence to emma but we don't want to keep in touch or see what the ski fraternity(no spell check on these forums!!) is doing 'cos we already know! they are still trying to advance themselves by a half or quarter buoy and figure out how to get their toe out of that bit of the handle they got it wedged in! check out snowboard uk or whitelines mags they have stacks of good pictures, write ups ,product tests ,reports from different local riding spots ,instructionals and interviews with both british and foreign riders there is plenty of advertising to keep the wheels of industry turning but the mags are so full of legit stuff that you don't really notice the ad's. and guess what ,not a pair of skis or a giant slalom course in sight!
we have now moved so far away from waterskiing that we may as well cover power boat racing and surfing in our wakeboarding mag 'cos they have as much in common with us as skiers do ,if not more, at least they are two other sports worth watching!
anyway apart from all that the last wakeboard mag was the best yet i reckon and that is nothing to do with the fact that there was not much skiing in it, it was just a good mag!
see ya

Hey N.Monkey,

I can see where you are coming from and I do take onboard what you are saying. Its also worth a quick note that the S/board scene is a few years further down the line than us! So lets keep things moving and get more people out on the water.

Glad you like the mag... we're taking on board what you are all telling me, therefore producing even better mags! Keep your eye out for the next one.. I'm sure you'll agree its even better still!

Get it dialled...

Em

i take your point Em and obviously i realise that wakeboarding is a baby sport in comparison to all the other boardsports, just as long as we are heading in the same direction as they are and we are learning from their mistakes and triumphs who cares if we are bringing up the rear? it doesn't matter as long as what we do is legit then we will earn respect from the people who are considered to be leading the way. it is just my opinion that constantly letting ourselves be grouped together with waterskiing and the BWSF takes away from the legitimacy(?) that we all want.
anyway philosophising hurts my head and trying to be a wise monkey is difficult when you can't spell!
