Buying Boards from the US

I have been in contact with a US dealer and the new 2003 model Hyperlites are out TODAY (28-03-02!) I want to buy one but the shop has told me that I'll have to pay the UK tax and import duty, does anyone know how much this is? Can anyone give me any advice that has bought from the USA before?

Hi Be careful on your purchase, the import duty is around 1.7% then plus the vat @ 17.5% payable to the carrier usually UPS or fed express. English dealers don't like warranting boards not purchased through the UK if damaged.

I have bought boards from the US before and yes you have to pay the duty/VAT on arrival.

Never had any problem though and the bigger shops will ship immediatly which means you could get your gear within 2-3 days. I used performance ski and surf in the past.

The UK dealers won't warranty any gear from the US so choose carefully
