Why is the British Tour refered to as 'tedious' on the Revert website ?

Not everyone likes the UK tour, everyone has there own opinions and its good to see a UK rider getting recognition even when they don't ride on the tour.
Personally i like the tour as it gives riders a chance to mix with other riders that you dont normally see, well been from where i am its like that i should say! |

I suppose for guys that have been around for many years it might seem like that
Still being new to all this lark, and having done the tour for the 1st time this year I enjoyed it. I Have met people I would not have met and seen places I would not have seen. Even better when its a venue where you can cable also after your run It would be great to get more riding in on it, but then the events would take longer, and a weekend is already quite long. |

ok. that comment was describing the wakeskate part of the tour. I have no problems with the wakeboard tour at all, it's good for the sport, and this year it's gonna be even better.
On the other hand, I do not think that wakeskating as a competitive sport (especially in the 5 min' run format) is either a true judge of someones abilities or a good advertisment for the sport. 2004 nationals champion Terry Hannam won that title with no more than a couple blind 180's in the flats and a sketchy as hell shuv-it. Now i ride with terry all the time and can tell you he is a far better rider than this. The problem is this is a highly inconsistant sport which is made more so by any change in weather conditions, type of boat, the driver and the length of time you have to 'warm up'. To have a 5 minute time period which includes time spent in the water after stacking is simply to short. You can not expect to pull your best tricks in 3 mins on the water. Therefore you don't want to stack so you get to ride longer, and so you don't throw your hardest tricks. This sends the crowd home thinking the best wakeskaters in the country can barly do a decent ollie let alone a kickflip. To me this makes it a bad representation of everything that wakeskating is about. I judged the tour and nationals last year, and it was tedious. That's why you'll never see me competing on the tour. (unless they put up a decent prize fund, then I'll shut everyone down! Mwoaha ha ha ha haaa) laters and merry christmas to one and all |
