The interesting thing about Loch lomond is the majority of boats are large cruisers. These throw out huge wakes within the 10mph limit.

The amount of skiers/wakeboard boats in comparison is negligable

Unfortunately it's not just the size of wake and erosion that has prompted this.

There has been conflict amongst all those that use the loch. Fishermen hate wakeboarders and cabin crusiers due to the wake, ramblers hate everybody and everybody hates jet skiers!

My view is that your registration is supplied ONLY once you have passed some form of proficiency test. When you learn to sail, you also learn the rules of the water, etiquette and so on. Unfortunately all too many go out and buy boats and jet skis and run around in them having left their brains on the shore. This, I feel, is where the problems are and needs to be addressed. I can guarantee the byelaws will become more stringent at the very least, those who flaunt or ignore them only make it easier for a ban to be enforced down the line .

It would be good to get arguments up on this site, play devils advocate as well....

Ally, i could not agree more.

This is what windermere needed but the LDNPA idiots ignored us.

I'd campaing for your ideas rather than a "no ban" ideal.. that way when you save the lake it will be a safer and more user friendly area hopefully 8)

Default There goes the neighbourhood!

Yep I have heard rumours about this, the first thing to get banned will be 2 stroke jet ski's in the very near future.

Apparently there are loads of boats registered on the loch but for those who are up there mid week you hardly ever see many & even at the weekend it ain't exactly the M25!

Having just got a new boat I am a bit concerned :? Fingers crossed it won't be in the near future.

Stu,

I would guess one single watersport user will not be targeted directly - hence I doubt they would ban jetski's and leave speedboats which many will argue are as big a problem. What they will do is enforce a tighter set of byelaws, shore line restrictions, speed restrictions etc. I would urge you and anybody that has/will set foot in your boat to respond to the consultation doc.
Al.

Will do Ally. Quite a few wakeboarders kicking about Balmaha area & I am sure the boatyard owners have wind of this already.
