unirider

the term pro means these riders are free to ride whenever they want to and get some sort of reward for it , be it money, material goods or free ride time, all the riders that i mentioned have other commitments like WORK!!!!!!!!!!! buzza welds all day, tim has 2 shops to run, moyle delivers sony products and becky is at school, so how can riders that have limited ride time be expected to compete with true pro riders.

as the saying goes........... the rich get richer........ and it seems that the tour does'nt care about the poor

I'm not going to get drawn into this blatant invitation for conflict as I'm sure that you're message is an initial gut reaction to incorrect and un-official information regarding this years tour.

Please bear in mind that a direct insult to the tour and WUK is:

1) An personal insult to me, Graham, the many other Tour officials including drivers, coaches, judges and lastly the riders who are associated on the tour.

2) In contravention of the forum rules about direct insults. We are all for informed discussion (and protect this at all costs) but will not tolerate blind insults that bring nothing to the discussion.

I will keep this topic open prior to deleting your message in the vain hope that people will read the full story and understand that the situation is very simple:

1) The tour info format is not yet 100% fixed
2) WUK has and will always support UK riders for beginners to pros

End of story...

Ps. check the Tour Rumours post for a short list of new moderating rules until we get the full tour info online.

point taken

post has been edited

my point was, how can you expect pro's and amature's to compete on an equal level.............. surely that would be a foregone conclusion

sorry in advance if i've got the wrong end of the stick

big p,

No worries... with regards to the divisions etc I'm going to have to kop out on talking specifics however I can talk in general about how WUK will continue to support all levels of riders from beginners up...

Pro wise the changes to the tour are being introduced to assist the competitors and spectators to get a more exciting and condensed competition. This is a non contentious issue so please check the pro division info at a later date.

Beginner wise I guess the worry is that if the tour were not to include young and starting out riders then how is anyone going to progress? Good question, and this is obviously very important as we can see how riders such as Dan Nott have earned their stripes taking part in WUK comps for the last X years.. if they didn't have any where to start would they be at the top of their game now? Probably, but maybe without such beneficial comp experience.

To assist the rookies this year WUK is introducing a Rookie Riders League which will provide a framework for rookies to gain the skills and experience to compete in the other national tours and comps that are available. Again I haven't got the RRL pack yet for everyone but this will go online as soon as I get it. Rest assured the WUK workers have been beavering away on a way to help out the sports future champions.

Hope this helps alay some worries, I can't wait for the final info as I'm now getting knackered from typing ;-)

Jeremy

I appreciate you can't announce the exact details, but to be honest its not of much help to those who think the might be able to compete this year and are planning participiationand weekends way and travel plans based upon the dates provided.

Obviously if you read betwen the lines you will work out that a 1 day quaifier is not really enough time to sort out qualifaication for all divisions, but is enough time to sort out potential riders for the divisions I outlined.

With regards to the rookies league its a great idea but I do think that it would put more pressure on WUK as it will be used as a point of reference for all queries relating to each individual event.

So a simple question to keep your typing down.

From the draft information you have will there be 2 division as I suggest or more.

Why do you feel that there won't be enough time to run a one day qualifier for all the divisions? we do it every saturday at every competition we do so why not this day? so far as i know 1080 in Tamworth don't have "slow" water or anything so 2x 30 sec passes should still take the same length of time
and in defense of the "pro" riders in this country about half of the people that are considered pros in this country have other jobs or are at school/college, and the other half are so skint that they only get to ride about half the amount that Tim and Chris did last year.
i also think that you are selling Tim and Chris a bit short because they are both considered to be at a so called "pro level" of riding, not in an "i can do ten mobes" kind of way but because of the way they ride and the way they make what they do look like it does.
some of our pros are lucky or work hard to save up and go away for the winter to gain an edge it's their choice and Tim and Chris have businesses to run which is their choice, if competitions were that important to them then they would be doing winters in Florida but they aren't and i hope it stays like that because its why they ride the way they do 8)
