My last post seems to mysteriously dissappeared so here we go again
2005 Tour with have 2 divisions Pro Man Pro Ladies about 28 riders in total across both divisions Qualification day to get on the tour So No Boys, Girls, Open Men or Seniors Probably just the best from each of those divs from last year Sure seems like a daft way to get alot more people competing. More like and exclusive ' members only ' do If I'm wrong then apologies and thank f**k |

man that sounds ****.........how are people suposed to get exposure to the masses when they cant enter well covered events.
whats wrong with running an open women's/men's event..........it's not like they look like beginers on the water, look at riders like the woodhead's, rob moyle, buzza, solid jim and becky hall, I would'nt exectly call any of them ****. fair enough, i dont know many other riders, but I ride with these guy's and when you see moyle explode a 20 foot tantrum of a double-up or tim pull a super clean off axis 5 you cant help but be impressed......... surely this is adequate skill for the tour. how are up and coming talented young riders supposed to attract sponsorship when no one sees them ride. surley the way forward is when you have events like l2r and the haverrig ride and slide promoting pro and amateur sides of the sport it sound to me like the tour is shooting itself in the foot!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry bigp but the majority of riders you just mentioned could easily ride in the pro area!
i think the idea of the qualifications could also be that everyone could have a go from boys-pro, but in the interest of the viewing public it is a better idea of running the tour this way, in the interest of riders who aren't good enough to ride in the tour it is a huge dissapointment to them, but there are a lot of other comps going on as well as the uk tour so does it really matter how only one tour out of many runs, if you dont like it ride at another tour. But like Buzza said it could go that way if they're not careful. What seems to make this tour better then any other tour to everybody? |

i am still a bit unsure what is happening
will there be no non-pro divs or just no no qualification rounds for them? if that is the case do the divs stay the same as last year? cheers, tom

DaveD, your info doesn't match the official draft that I have which is part of the reason why I pulled the original post.
As this is the official Wakeboard UK forum we can't have incorrect info broadcast as it causes potential tour riders to worry and argue unnecessarily over features that may not be in the final setup. Yes, we all know that we could do with publishing the full spec now, but this is currently not possible. Everyone is going to have to wait, including me. As I've probably mentioned before the tour format is changing and this means that sponsorship and location arrangements are more long winded this year. Wakeboard UK has been supporting UK Wakeboarding for many years now and will continue to do so, for every level from beginner to Pro. Don't forget that Wakeboard UK are run by volunteers, for the good of UK Wakeboarding, without a commercial agenda. Please don't jump to the wrong conclusions just because we have a delay in publishing the official info. As this issue is causing me a headache on a daily basis I'm introducing new rules to keep things manageable and civil until Graham returns from abroad and we can get the format out to the masses. 1) Please don't post rumours relating to comp formats, this causes unnecessary hassle for riders and organisors. We do not have the time to argue about rules that don't exist. 2) We will only post the full details in one hit, when they arrive. We will not drip feed possible rules and regs as this takes lots of time and winds up potential tour riders. 3) Please don't slag off the tour or Wakeboard UK, especially when the cause of the insult is plain not true... e.g. the incorrect rules posted above. We're open minded enough to provide these forums as part of the many services from WUK but will not tolerate ill thought out direct insults to the many people who give up their time to forward the UK wakeboarding scene.
