Northern Monkey - how true is that statement!!
The current state of this country is down to the fact that half the people are muppets who have no idea what they are voting for, and the other half don't bother to vote. We have the worst government for years with the worst opposition for years. That's how they can get away with this stuff You do end up thinking is it worth voting as I don't want to vote for any of them!! - apart from the guy who is standing up for something he believes in, but living in Oxfordshire I dont think that's possible. |

take the US for example, in there election as the states with an average IQ over 100 voted for cheyny (spelling?) and all those states with an average IQ of under 100 voted for Bush, it just so happens there are more states and people with IQ's below 100, so Bush won. So what happens when you get to the point where the stupid outway normal? Democracy wont work then

Democracy will always work no matter how low the IQ of the voters its simple mathematics, the most vote’s wins the point in question is whether or not democracy is the best option.
The problem as I see it is that the country’s future is being decided by the lowest common denominator, not unlike allowing the lunatics to elect the asylum warden. Imagine if the only people who were allowed to vote were Mensa members rather than the Sun reading masses. I think we would then see the emergence of more plausible parties than the current two you can realistically choose from at the moment.

labour can't win in the Runnymede borough (around thorpe) but the 'cons', LibDem and UKIP all can. we had a monster raving looney party rep' going around all the towns over the last month. I had a chat with him outside Tesco's, it's a bit hard to take a middle-age man seriously when he's wearing a floral dress, a monkey tail and a blue flashing light on his head. He also had his child in tow dressed as an elf, which kinda put me off voting their way.
Your all right though, whoever it say's on the front page of The Sun on May 5th, will win. spastics |

i got an "official" manifesto leaflet thingy through the door today from Tony Kemp and the only conclusion i can come to after reading it is that TK is standing for election to gain publicity for the cause-obviously this is a good thing 8)
however if he is really trying to stand for election in a serious way in the Windermere area then he shouldn't give up his day job! his policies (as described in his leaflet) are irrelevant to the people of Windermere in general with the exception of the speed limit and that is only of interest to a minority in the town. does he think that people here want "public toilets to be open 24hrs"? does he think that the speed limit debate is more important to the locals than where their kids go to school or how long it takes to get seen in A&E or Law and Order issues? if he does as his leaflet suggests then all he is doing is making the locals think he is a joke which ultimately has to reflect badly on the cause. as someone said to me today and i quote "does he think that we're all going to vote for some tosser from Skipton just so that his kids can go waterskiing?" lets just hope it's a publicity stunt i guess 8)
