I take my hat off to Tony... He seems to be one of the few standing up to the joke that is the current LDNPA.
Its past time for people to stand up and make polite suggestions. This thing needs dealing with. I've had about as much as i can take out of this nannying labour government, but most of all, the LDNPA and management of the cumbrian area. Its not just Windermere; they are KILLING a whole economy. Whole communities are being ripped apart.
*Locals cannot afford to stay in the area
*Revenue raising activities (ranging from Bicycle riding to Pleasure craft usage) that have been going on for generations are being outlawed.. why? and why haven't they been goverened before? why 12 months ago could i go and buy a 1200 horsepower off shore raceboat and drive it down windermere with no license in place?!!
*Political correctness is totally out of hand.. whoever heard of a guided walk being cancelled because there wasn't enough ethnic diversity within its subscribers?! Just because certain people within our society choose not to partake in an activity doesn't make it racist against them! Where was the logic? where the white caucasions climbing the hills in white capes or something??
The LDNPA has managed itself and its resources so badly that they are screaming for cash, they are one of, it not the worst performing economies in the country... yet with so much available to them. Whats up with it? with such an influx of toursists drawn to the area whats going wrong? go figure...
The lakes are one of the UKs best assets and its being strangled by backward thinking nimbies.
Why can't an area so vast be split up for differing activities? why must only day trippers and ramblers be prioritised? why can't there be some kind of compromise? why can't activites felt to have 'risks' be governed and controlled?
Am I alone in my thoughts? or is the LDNPA fulfilling ANYONES wishes? is anyone, particuarly the residents of the lake district happy with what Michael Bentley is doing?
Seems to me that Tony is the only guy speaking any sense round Windermere way....
