It is with great disappointment that Wakeboard UK have to announce that this years proposed Urban Pro Wakeboard Tour has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
Head of Wakeboard UK Graham Creedy announced that there had been problems with some of the inner city locations which WUK believed had been overcome. However, a persistent problem of confirming sponsors for the event meant the decision has been made to put the tour on ice for this year. “I hope the riders understand that the disappointment is shared by all of us, riders and organisers alike, and by others associated with the sport. We had hoped that this year's tour would have provided a bigger platform to perform on within the inner city environment, and would have also given the sport and sponsors the potential of reaching a larger market and a sizeable prize fund for the Pro division" Graham said. Wakeboard UK confirmed that this year's Nationals is confirmed for August and that one other big inner city event was also on the books, although details concerning these later events is still at the planning stage. The proposed event for Saturday 21st May at Ten80 Wakeboard & Waterski, West Midlands waterski Center, Tamworth, Staffs will be going ahead on a one-day format with limited entry open to all divisions. Practice is available on the Friday by contacting the site direct. On the Saturday evening a party is planned at the site with camping also available, which can be booked on Tel. 01827 874404.

Just a side note regarding official announcements from WUK.
The order in which announcements are posted online are: 1) http://www.wakeboard.co.uk 2) The ukriders mailing list at http://wakemail.net/mailman/listinfo...s_wakemail.net 3) On WakeChat as either a copy of the press release or a link to http://www.wakeboard.co.uk Also, I will be fielding questions from WakeChat users regarding the cancellation and will push these into the WUK Faq area if relevant. ;-(
