Default West Midlands Waterski becoming members club

WMWSC is becoming a members club from the end of this season (October 1). The members will lease the "boat owners" lake from the site owner and Ten-80 will continue to do their good thing on the other lake.

I seem to be on the committee (on the basis that I'm probably willing to build things and mend things) along with another regular on this forum.

Has anyone here got experience of members clubs? Is there anything we need to watch out for or be sure to do, to make it a success for all the members????

Its always sems to be the most difficult of things but -

Just keep the members regularly updated with whats going on.
Whenever theres a lack of information it just snowballs into rumours and misinformation, and than you get splinter groups and a whole load of bad feelings and then its a whole new job pulling it all back together.

Well thats my bit but I bet theres a load more bits of advice others will give.

good luck

The best advice I can give you is "Don't let personal politics take over the club"

I was club secretary (I've still got the little black skirt and glasses in the cupboard) for the local Motorbike Club. There were only about 20 members, but politics tore the club apart in under a year.

Great advice

I too am a black skirt owner.. Got roped into being club sec on exactly the same basis.

Keep the members well informed.
Try not to let politics get in the way.
If its a watersports club try and focus on the SPORT and not silly functions all the time.... after all thats what most of the members have joined for.
Try to keep the commitee in touch with the members....

And most imprtantly of all remember why you are doing it.........DONT forget to ride....
