Default lakes near London

Hi all,

Having recently moved to London i'm looking to buy a boat and keep it on a trailer near a lake. Does anyone know of any lakes nearby (preferabbly within 1 - 1.5 hours drive from Clapham where you can do this. Any contact details or advice would be great.

cheers , Nick.

i live in central london and keep my boat on Hayling Island at Northney Marina.....straight down the A3 and takes about 1.5hrs. its the sea though not a lake

There is a small ski park there and a good crowd of people (you are at the mercy of wind though as it's the sea and all that) but also the open water too so i normally make a whole weekend of it either boating across to the IOW or hanging around East Head/Wittering.

Try Westhorpe Leisure, based in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, so about 60 mins away.

They have two lakes that they hire to members with boats on a 4 hour basis. The prices vary depending on what session eg 9 till 1pm ,1 till 5pm etc.

Might be worth a call/visit 01628 484275/486617
