Default Boat speeds

Hey peeps! i currently ride behind a bayliner with a monter tower at about 20 or 21 mph but most of the guys in any dvds i watch look like they are going much faster, is this true? or am i just imagining it!

They are doing more like 25/26mph

Even so, it doesn't mean that 21mph is wrong for you and your boat. Try it at different speeds and see how the wake is affected and how you like the riding. You might need to adjust your rope length for different speeds.

Try to get hold of a GPS unit to see what spped your acyually doing. Boat speedos can often be way off.

I ride at 21.5 mph as I find its the slowest speed I can get away with before the wake breaks up.

The reason the pros are riding at 25+ is because they are running 3000lbs or so of ballast and you need that speed to keep the wake clean, plus it allows them to ride 80ft lines and get more hang time.
