Is anyone aware of anywhere in the UK or northern europe where you can go camping and use your own boat on a lake. Little girl and wife love camping, and I need some water time after a dreasdful 18 months.

I went to Llangors in south Wales for a week in July last year. We hired a caravan that time but I'm thinking of tenting it this year as I know they have camping facilities.
We caught the weather just right and it was scorching. Nice big lake, but can become busy (wash) and is open to the elements (wind). No boarding on sunday afternoons or bank holiday Mondays . Because we went before the school holidays there was hardly anyone there and the club members were really freindly and helpful. It was slighly pricey, but because of the weather it was worth every penny. There is a contact number on the bwsf web site i think, if not PM me if your interested and i'll dig out some info for you. There is also lots of other attractions apart from boarding to keep all the family happy (walks, climbing, horse riding ect). Hope this helps. |

You can camp and book your boat on at Grendon Lakes, Northamptonshire. The run max of 2 boats on the lake at once.

I know it’s a bit of a busman’s holiday but get yourself to Windermere. You can rent a mooring for the week from LDNPA for about £50.00 and whilst you can’t camp next to the boat there are plenty of sites nearby.
Or if you wanted a real busman’s holiday you could pitch the tent in you garden and still go to Windermere as you’re only in Lancaster.

Loch Ken - nice camp site, but limited ski area.
Loch Lomond - 2 sites that I know of, both on east shore, one is caravan and camping club one called millarochy bay and the other is a bit further north and is called cashell I think, run by forestry commission. Cashell you can camp right on the shore and it's are well up the loch so into the quieter area. When I went I was sailing, or not, there was no wind for the entire week so perfect boarding conditions. Take plenty of supplies - there's nothing to buy it's the land that commerce forget! |
