Default ballast for boat!

sup peeps! just been out on a mastercraft x-star and it puts my wake to shame! i currently ride behind a bayliner 192 with a monster tower, the wake is pretty good but i would like it bigger haha whats the chat with loading the boat etc, i plan to buy 3 baby blocks and put 2 in the rear and one in the front of the boat! good idea?

also does anyone know of any fins or attachements you can get for the side of the boat which may increase the wake etc?

any advice would be appreciated cheers

I wouldnt think they will make that much difference (however Im not sure what a baby block holds it just sounds small!) . You will need more weight than that to make a serious wake. The split is roughly 60% at the back and 40% at the front.

I would buy bigger bags you dont have to fill them, and as you improve you can add more weight.

The other thing to bear in mind is the effect this weight will have on your engine. If you have the 3ltr Mercruiser it wont be able to cope with loads of ballast. Also you fuel consumption will rocket.

It’ll have a short life expectancy and a massive fuel bill lugging 2000lbs around.

i think a baby block is around 90lbs .........i think, i was planning putting one under each seat in the back and one on the front? that way i can move them around to get desired effect! how does the trim of the boat and pitch of the prop etc effect a boat?
