Given that SM was not at the recent Groms/Junior Nationals then he won't have seen any new talent that has not attended squad training at the quays.
So if someone was looking to be considered for the British Squad/Team then it would be worth having a conversation with GC and then getting down to Quayside and ride with SM. that way they will then be directly aware of the potential of a rider. Also as a footnote the top riders and normally winners in a division will normally move on to the next division, leaving spaces for the 'younger' talented riders to move up to squad places. Just my 2 cents!! |

Both Graham and Stew were at a recent squad training day at The quays where most of the junior riders attended. there is aso another squad training day coming up soon, If you did ride in the Nationals and consider you are up for the squad training, i would contact Graham Creedy asap Graham will have seen you ride and probably has video as well.
It cant do any harm. With regard to moving up a category, I beleive you cannot ride up an age group, the only categorys you can move to from any other group is open and pro. I am sure this is what i have been told and is applied in cable. Anyone know if this is correct? |

My comment regarding those moving up a category is regarding age not ability- in that ordinarily, the older riders in an age group will win comps in that age group and take squad/team places for that division. Then when they are too old it gives those younger a chance to move into their positions!!! hope that is clearer. |

I have been told personally by Graham that if you don't compete in the Nationals you are not eligible for the UK World or European team.It doesn't matter how good you are.I think that is probably fair. (imagine the problems it could cause otherwise) If you wanted to compete anyway your federation could enter you and you can compete as an individual. You can still win a medal but your pts do not count for the team.My daughter won a gold medal at the Europeans last year but her pts did not count as she was part of the team but not on it.
My one cent........................ |

His daughter is Nicola Butler.
She wasn't in the team because the year before she rode for south africa and she wasnt eligable to ride for the UK so she rode as an individual. I think im right there. Please tell me if im wrong. toby |
