instead of spending money on developing the skills of young riders in the UK by giving them water time, the federation spends loads flying them around the world to a contest they're not ready to enter. Spend the money on helping them progress so that in a few years they are little Lewis Cornwall's and Nicky D's.

thats pretty much it.

The Iwsf worlds are every 2 years and the Europeans are every year now. For some reason the 2007 Europeans is in 2008 in Feb in South Africa. The last Europeans was in '06 in Belgium. I assume there will be another one later in the year but who knows..............

Crap.. I just got back this morning and expected a couple of little posts .. but this.. I am sure i haven't read everything and dont have time to as i have a weeks work to catch up on..The thing is i am that parent with the 12 year old son who has been to the worlds. He has had very little boat time this year as to be honest he spent most of his time riding and competing on cable. He entered the Junior nationals and won and entered the open mens nationals and got a 3rd place. He loves to compete and fortunately does not suffer too much with nerves so tends to come good in competition.
Having been to Doha he now knows the standard that is required, he is not a Harley Clifford
and unless i find a bottomless pit of cash he wont be, but this experience will push his riding, he has about 8 or 9 inverts on the boat mainly basic ones i agree 3's and occasional 5's. Spendin money on boat time in the uk is important but competing against the worlds best is also necessary. Fred has another 3 years in Junior boys, and badly wants a Podium in Worlds I beleive he can do it and so does he. I am hoping to get him out to the states over winter to train, and hopefully get selected to go to South Africa in February. And i know the competition will be easier without Harley, Mitch Askew and Daniel Powers riding but it still wont be an easy ride.
I make sacrifices, just like Nickel and Lewis Hamiltons dad , and i hope it will be worth it, If it comes to nothing so be it,as a family we have all enjoyed the experience.

As a closing note Anyone want to sponsor a 12 year old? dont want shorts, tee shirts, flip flops, sunglasses, one board a year, just hard cash!!!
