ok does any one know what the ratio is then ? IE proportion given to each discipline ? I mean all IE barefoot, kneeboard, trick , waterski,Jump, Wakeboard etc. Do any wakeboarders get help in the way of approved training centres allocated around the uk ? sorry for the questions but no one has responded on the BWSF site !

cheers

Lesley

I take it all back this is the response: BTW I am sorry if this is slightly off topic...

To answer your query there is some limited funding available:

1) Lascelles Grants - the closing date for this was 30th October and the criteria for this funding is:

BTW Did anyone apply ?
http://www.britishwaterski.org.uk/UK...ion%20Form.doc

• Under 18 as of 1st January 2008.
• An active competitor and licence holder in a recognised sports division of British Water Ski.
• Active in a division that has EAME (European) and World Championships.
• On the way up – and by that we mean improving and nearing the top of your age category.
• Talented and committed.
• A British Citizen.

2) SportsAid grants - applications for these small grants are managed through the divisions of the sport.

3) TASS (Tallented Athlete Scholarship Scheme) - funding for those in full time education - again applications are dealt with via the division of the sport.
Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme - HOMEPAGE

4) BWS funding - there is a small fund of subsidy available however a person needs to be recognised as worthy of funding either through talent spotting days which BWS hosts during the season - these are advertised in the magazine.

I hope this helps to some extent ...

Lascelles grants yes quite a lot of wakeboarders applied this year the succesful riders were;

Full grant £1250.00 Nicola Butler wakeboard boat

Smaller grants. £400.00 Freddie Carter wakeboard boat

£400.00 Charlotte Bryant wakeboard cable

£400.00 Sophie Cordery wakeboard cable

Not sure about the Tass grants these ( ithink ) are given to in fulltime education after school age so will certainly be looking into this one in the future. It would be nice if the full list riders who receive tass grants was published. lets see what can be done.

Do you really want to know what the skiers get compared to the wakeboarders? I don't think anybody really wants to know. I am aware of some of it and I really don't need to know the rest. The mind boggles. If the parents of the wakeboarders did not have money, we (UK Wakeboard), would not be represented at any International competitions. Simple as that.

The Lascelles grant does not come from the B.W.S. although it is managed by them . it was a legacy left by General Lascelles to be distributed to up and coming (skiers) to assist with their training and equipment. thats how i see it
