Well I had a reply from a thread with regards to membership postage which was ...

Thanks for the suggestion.

We are aware of this however as this is a computerised process which packs the cards it can only do so on a line by line basis of data and doesn't recognise "families" ... We are in the fortunate position where we have a sponsor who pays for all the costs associated with our membership card production and postage.

I am sorry that i hve possibly misled you on this one. there are no figures from B.W.S. although it would be very useful to know exactly the split. but what i can confirm is that in the 2007 season 97 members competed in wakeboard/wakeskate BWS sanctioned competitions, and I beleive that wakeboarders only join the BWS if they are going to compete. Maybe the figure is higher, but even if it was double this amount (i would be suprised if it is) it is still only a very small proportion of the overall BWS membership.
Once again apologies. i got a bit carried away.

Hi Nick

That's one of the reasons that people join the BWS but the main reason is if the club you are a member of, is a BWS club if you join you have to join the BWSF

I did all the memberships for Oxford last year and we sent at least 50 wakeboarders all straight to the BWSF and only probably 5 of them compete

Anyone who drives a boat, needs an SBDA, that's invalid if you aren't a current member

We will again send about 50 wakeboarders the BWSF way in 2009, and I am sure loads of other clubs do the same

Cheers

To be honest i didn't realise that the clubs insisted on bws membership if you are turning up for a set, is this the norm with most clubs? I didn't think it was the case with the quays and Liquid Leisure, maybe i have under estimated then it would be good for those who are in clubs around the uk to give us some input and maybe try and build up some figures. But it would be much easier if when completing the bws membership form we could tick a box indicating our main activity within bws.

Yeah same the local club to me (not quays) insists on BWSF membership so i would say there are 40 wakeboarding bwsf members there only 1 of which competes.
