Default Wakeboarding on the Extreme Channel last night

Not sure if it's been shown before but did anyone catch the Relentless Wakeboard Tour coverage on Extreme last night?

I thought it was pretty good - worth keeping an eye out for a repeat if you missed it.

Call me naive but one thing on the program that surprised me was a comment from Jonty Green that most of our top UK wakeboarders ride cable pretty much all of the time because they simply can't afford to be behind a boat.

I know that "pros" struggle in this country but I've always assumed that people like Jonty would have all the access they'd need to practise behind a boat.

faceplants you should read the post on the euro boat champs. The guys had to pretty much fund themselves to be there. The pro's in this country certainly don't make any decent money. Not enough to ride everyday behind a boat. Sad state, but the wakeboard industry is small and exspensive.

More cables need building, this country could support a few more, Germany has atleast 60ish cable sites i think.

For those of us without sky, is there any other way of watching this ? Any websites or torrents been set up.

Its a shame the extreme channel isnt made available via freeview - any thing to bump up the visiblity of the sport has got to be a good thing.

Actually just had a look at the alliance site, are the podcasts there the same thing ?

Problem with being a pro in this country is that you need to be a media wh*re also.

Crowhurst seems to do OK but he works ridiculously hard on getting as much media coverage as possible; he gives any sponsors exactly what they need - coverage and representation.

To make a living out of being a pro isn't as much about being the best of the best, its about being in the spotlight and representing your sponsors in a good light.
