Default Tower vs Tall Pole vs Standard Position

I was wondering if I could get some advice about the benefits/downfalls to having the rope off a Tower or one of those tall pole setups compared to the standard ski position.

I've only wakeboarded off the standard ski position; does it make that much of a difference? Enough that it is worth the money for the tall pole set up or a tower?

Do those tall poles that you strap into the boat work well? Or are they more of a pain to deal with?

What do you actually have to do to install a Tower?

Thanks

Default O yeah.... theres a difference

O yeah.... theres a difference.... definetly with a ski pole or tower.... ur ridding will go up 3 to 4 levels.... theres a big difference...... Think logically, The lower the rope the more the rope pulls you down while your in the air!!

The difference between a tall pole and a tower is that with a tall pole, when you carve over, the whole boat will keel over taht way probably making the boat turn and causeing a screwed up wake and a lot more work for the driver!!
With a tower you really cant go wrong, when you carve out it distrubutes force to the whole tower causing the boat not to tip very much depending on what type of hull you have.

Tall ski poles go into a bracket mounted on the floor of the boat and then (like the one you were talkin about) A rope goes to the bow eye securing it.

A tower is mounted on top the gunnels of hte boat but its hard to say exactlycuz i dont know wut type of boat u have

hey,

basically, with a raised rope position (tower/pole) you are jumping up to a point, not being pulled down (like std ski tow position). when you use a std rope position as soon as you jump you get pulled downwards, whereas with a tower you get pulled up - obviously with wakeboarding this is a big advantage.

With a pole if you cut out the boat can lean, this screws up your wake which is never good, but with a tower the forces are evenly spread, thus a nice clean, even wake

I fitted my tower in under 2 hours, it was no big deal but drilling the first hole is always a bit nerve racking! gnereally if you can put up a shelf you can fit a tower - if in doubt tho get your local boat dealer to do it!

I started selling towers a year or so ago and don't even bother with poles beacause of the above - in my opinion you cant go wrong with a tower!

Later,

Mike

My only issue is that it is really a “family” boat and I don’t think they’ll like having the tower up there all the time. Plus we use a boat lift with a canopy and we’d have to get a collapsible tower (which cost more right?) I was also looking at getting a boom, for barefooting, but those cost a lot as well.

When I was talking to the dealer by my house, he actually suggested getting a whole new boat that was built more for skiing and wakeboarding. We just got our new boat last year, a 185GX Glastron, I told him we were not quite ready for a new one yet.

Can you still throwdown most tricks from the lower rope position? Getting huge air would be difficult, but can you get enough to flip and such?

What about the specific wakeboard ropes? Worth the $100?

Hey man, you know what you need! a Monster Tower  OK i'm guessing you live in the states so I'm not gonna try and sell one to you from here (the UK)

But it sounds to me like it would be perfect - it folds down, can be removed and is real cheap ($995 with free shipping)! yet comes with a 5 year warranty. Check it out at monstertower.com

With regard to your question on staying with your low rope position, its pretty impossible to do anything very impressive without a tower. I have seen people throw back rolls without a tower but only one or two and they barely ever land it.

A tower makes a lot of difference, Since I started riding behind them I would never be without one.

I just check it out and it looks good. Can you put the quick releaese on all 4? I'd like to be able to take the entire tower off when I'm not up there boarding. I don't want it to get in the way for everyone else.
