Default Is my engine big enough to get me up

I just bought a 23ft wellcraft runabout boat. I bought it mostly for my kids to learn to wakeboard, but my wife and I want to do it also. It has a 260 HP 305 engine. I can get my wife & other girls up easily. but I cannot get up & no other guys can get up. we are big guys ranging from 210-255 lbs - we have a 143 baord. any help would be apperciated.

Thanks

260hp is enough, more than enough. I've gone behind a 20hp and I was 190-200 at the time. Its more technique, light people of course just pop out of the water. I think what you guys need to concentrate more on staying in a ball until the board rises on top of the water, then standing up.

Default Technique

I agree with kristian, is almost certainly technique. See if you can get an experienced boarder to come for a ride and give you some tips. It's probably something quite small that you are not doing correctly.

That's plenty of HP and many people would be glad to have half of it!

big guys def have a harder time getting out of the water. I got up my first 7 times in a row (i weigh 190lbs and i'm 6'0") but my friend whos 265 lbs and 6'4",well it took him until his third day wakeboarding to get up.

i find that it harder for big guys to get up
1. simply cause there bigger and it harder to get the board to plane up out of the water
2. there more "ego" on the line so they push and pull trying really hard to get up because they dont want to be embarssed by not being able to get up, remember that to get up all you have to do is hang on, you dont have to pull or push or do anything at all let the boat pull the board over the edge then stand up. its simple

and your motor is plenty big. good luck getting up.
