Default Is this a good deal?? Hyperlite Board and Bindings

Hello,
The last couple of years I have been getting into wakeboarding and I love it. I don't have a boat or a board, but I have gone out with friends and used their equipment....but I would really like to get my own gear.

I looked around last year and I really liked the '03 Byerly 137 Biolite board and the '03 Belmont bindings...I have heard only good things about them. Well, I can get a deal on both of them locally (it seems like a good deal), but I wanted to know what you people think about it.

I can get the '03 Byerly 137 Biolite board for $250 and the '03 Belmont bindings for $260. The guy I talked to said I wouldn't have to pay tax...so my grand total would be $510.

Is this worth it :?: I am not really sure about spending that much money...especially since I don't even have my own boat. But then again I think this setup will last me a long time. Maybe I just need one of you to talk me into purchasing this.

I appreciate any help.
Thanks

Another thing....at first I was looking at the Byerly 142, but I was told the 137 would be a better choice. I am 6' 170. What should I go with? Is this kind of a personal preference thing? I dont remember what size boards Ive ridden...I know my friend who is heavier than me likes the 137. Any info would be great

how come you aren't paying tax? unless you are on the channel islands that sounds strange...

Also, that setup is top of the line but it may be far more then you need, i would suspect the guy is focusing on maximizing profit rather the setting you up with what you need...
especially as you won't be using it as much as you don't have your own boat.

its upto you how you spend your ££££ but i would look into no more then £300 for board and bindings. otherwise, its a bit of a waste of cash.

which shop was it and which member of staff?

Mike

I dont know why I wouldn't have to pay tax....the guy I have been emailing back and forth with knows I am in the same state, but in the last email he said I wouldnt have to worry about tax. I emailed him back to make sure.

I just wanted to know if that is too much to pay for what I would be getting. I know the price that he gave me is $20 cheaper than what they have listed on their website, and he said thats the best he can do to get me a better deal.

I am hoping to get a boat soon in the future...if that matters.

Thanks for the help

its by no means a bad deal - hes not ripping you off for sure, unless he adds tax.

those are fine prices, its just a very high end package if you are starting out - but at least you won't need to upgrade in like 2 years.

Thats what I was kind of thinking....if I pay the price now, I will be better off in the long run and I won't have to upgrade. I am waiting for an email about the tax issue.

Thanks

Any information on my question about board size? I guess I can make another post....or search for other posts.

Thanks again

remember in the states, if you buy something out of state, tax is taken off.
