Default Anyone know how to keep an open cut dry while riding?

Over Memorial Day I cut my leg on my prop and got nine stitches. On Thursday I had the stitches taken out, but the wound opened back up again. The leg feels good now but the cut still bleeds a little is it’s bumped. I’m dieing to get back into the water and I’m trying to figure out a way to do it safely (I don’t want any infections), any suggestions?

I’m thinking about putting liquid skin over it, then smearing Vaseline over it and then wrapping and taping it to cover the Vaseline. In theory the liquid skin should keep the Vaseline from the cut and the Vaseline should repel the water. The wrapping and tape should keep the Vaseline in place. What do you think? Any other ideas?

From looking at your website pics i can understand why you want to get out on the water as soon as possible
But is it really worth the risk for a week or so ??
If the water is anything like the water i board on i wouldn't risk it
if it was cleaner i might ,
Altho your idea does sound quite good specially if you can dry start then you would spend less time in the water.
b.t.w. if the liquid skin is anything like the stuff i have used (its like nail polish) it stings like a mother when it goes in a deep cut so an open wound will prolly be worse still .
Hope you find a solution

Duct Tape the solution to all of mans problems. Wrap it up nicely, then put duct tape over the top (you didn't need that leg hair did you?).

if you dont care if it scars really bad then just do what he said, get some gause, then tape it up, hopefully it holds. heh. if it was me i'd just take good care of it and let it heal up so my leg wont fall off :P. where I wakeboard (delta, near stockton, ca.) the water is so poluted that there's no way in hell i'd get in teh water. god knows what would happen to me.

It would be wiser to let it heal, but if you really want to go. Duct Tape all the way man.
