Default Building own wakeboard

Hi,
I just tried wakeboarding few days ago and I love it a lot. I am wondering if I could build my own wakeboard instead of buying one for lot of money. Have you ever experienced building own wakeboard?
I found lot of stuff on http://www.viser.net/~anthwind/Building/building.html, so I think that building the board will not really be problem, just thinking about how to fix the binding to the foam and to the fibreglass. Do you have any experience with it? Could you give me some hints on building wakeboard in general - the right foam, etc.
Thanks

You will have at least $100 into building your own. For $150 I can sell you a new one. Is it really worth 20-30 hours of time to do it yourself and have an untested design? Don't spend the money twice.

You can make a foam board, just get a clark surfboard blank from a local surf or marine store, shape it, glass it, paint it, etc whatever you want to do. I've built a ply kiteboard and longboard skateboard. It should be easy to build just keep looking for online instructions. they have some out there. foam blanks are around $40.00, and fiberglass cloth and resin is around $30 total for a couple cans and pieces of cloth. Then all you need is a couple saws, sanders, etc. Pretty easy and a lot cheaper to do. You could probably do it for under $100, although at www.boardsforless.com and www.the-house.com they have cheap complete boards for like $80-$200.00, so unless you really wanna build it, it might just be better to buy one because it might not turn out great at first, and you'll just have to spend more money, but good luck anyways.
