Default To winch or not to winch?

Does anyone know anyone who has a winch? or has ever seen a winch in use?

At the bottom of my house i have a small river, which is always glassy, and recently i have been having dreams of boarding it, but since a boat is out the question (speed restrictions due to punt use), a nice winch would do the trick nicely!!!!! Though i am not to sure about the legality of it, it would be soooo much fun to do!

So, has anyone had any experience with winches???? I have looked around on the web, and i can find a few US sites with the on, but they are really very pricey for something that is not that complex. What are peoples thoughts?

JR

i don't reckon they are that pricy, a grand for the initial expence, but after that they run on droplets of petrol and you can ride all day. well worth it.

I thought it was agreed by all that the best winch was the Hive - albeit a little more expensive lol
