Hi, I'm keen to do a feature on Wakeboard.com on wakeboarding in Canada.. as I can't afford to hop on a plane at the moment I thought I might ask some of our Canadian users to tell us about their home lakes/wakeboarding spots.
What we're after is a short description of your favourite riding location along with details such as where you can launch your boat, costs involved and after boarding bars etc. Is anyone up for doing this? If so then please reply to this or drop me a private message on the forums.

Dude:
Canada is massive and there are thousands of lakes to ride. From the left to the right in every province there are amazing lakes everywhere. In south central ontario alone you have: Muskokas, Kawarthas, Trent, Haliburton, Georgian, Niagara on and on and on. Each of these areas have dozens of great places to ride. So where do you want to start ? I grew up in the 80s riding in Niagara: Old Welland Canal, Niagara River, Jordan Harbour, Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, Chipawa Creek... As I got older I used to ride quite a bit in the Kawarthas: Chemong Lake, Rice Lake, Buck Lake - these lakes are now very weedy and not the best but still pretty good compared to other places in the world. I also rode quite a bit in Haliburton - a little further north but with the cleanest water anywhere (cold too). After moving to TO I was a bit stuck for a regular spot to ride. The two closest places are Lake Puslinch in Cambridge ( very shallow, stinky and weedy ) this is "owned" by the McKlintochs and, Lake Belwood in Fergus. Lake Belwood is clean, but busy and dam controlled with the water level falling throughout the season. This year I will be riding mostly north again in the Muskokas. There are hundreds of lakes in the area. I have riden: Mill Lake, Lake Manitouwabing (Man-I-wanna-go-tubing), Camel Lake, Doe Lake, Brandy Lake, Lake of Bays, and others. There are little bays on Mill and Manitouwabing and Lake of Bays that are stellar. Now if we could just speed up this global warming thingy so we can have longer summers that would be cool! cheers. |
