Argh why cant i do it??!!

So i took my fins off to better my surface 180 - which worked great, but after an extremely wobbly and uncomfortable few seconds, i usually end up on my face. So what i am trying to do is bend my legs more, let go with one hand and after afew secs i have wobbled my way to catching an edge. It just feels so awful and i dont want to do it anymore

I think it would help if i could somehow put my fins back on after the surface 180

How long did it take you lot to learn this?

hiya

i been riding 3 years now and to ne honest my switch riding is still a bit bad. i can do it fine on a snowboard but cant catch on with the wakeboard. just even out your weight distribution and relax

practice makes perfect so keep on trying

You could try just taking the fins off the back whilst you get used to the feeling of riding switch. Handle position is the most important thing though. Make sure you get it on your leading hip once you've gone to switch.

Thanks for the advice, i usually let go with my back hand to get some balance, and IF i havnt already fallen over, i reach to hold the handle with both hands, the position feels almost imposible, like i just cant twist round that far and square my hips to the boat, my right foot (which usually leads me) wants to come back to the front and i catch my toeside and wack... etc.

Trying it at the cable place is proving more difficult. I go round afew times and always switch near the dock so that i dont have to walk too far back! Its no fun knowing you have an audience to watch me face plant, but also because if i dont remove my fins i cant surface 180 without falling too.

Handle position is the key. try bending your front knee a little more as if this is boned out you will be catching edges a lot.

It's just practice, I'm pretty much a total novice, but on holiday in may I had the chance to ride 2 or 3 times a day for free.

I fell on the second morning and knackered my ribs on my left side, tried to get back up but quit cos it hurt so much and the guys in the boat suggested trying to get up switch. I did after a few goes and rode that way most of the week. Now as the boat sets off I have to think which way I'm going to ride.

Well worth sticking with though, because it means you've only got to worry about the trick you are trying, you know that if you nail it you'll be able to ride away.

Having said that, if you can't ride switch at all I suppose any 180's would be out and you'd just have to straight to 360+ rotation, so perhaps that's how to progress quickly.
