As far as boards go, take their advice and ride alot of boards and board styles until you find what you like. And for boats, look for a used Moomba, they might be a little more than 10,000 but they are one of the cheapest boats to start and are sick for the money.

Haha notice it was a direct drive with no tower and no room to seat people, but if that's what your looking for then an old nautique like that is just fine. Plus it is much easier to learn to wakeboard with a tower. A new tower runs at about $700-2,000. And a boat like that unlike a similar malibu doesn't have a wedge to add extra weight and shape to the wake.

Gilbert, I'm sorry you clearly know more about this than me. The very thought that a Direct drive nautique would possibly create a far superior wake to a boat with a V drive is clearly incorrect. As, it appears is my assumption that adding a tower to a Sport Nautique would not be straight forward....

Ah well, looks like I'm out of business then...

Oh also, my mistake again... without a wedge the boat will be junk for wakeboarding.... the Wedge is defo the only worthwhile way to make the wake bigger....

ha ha 2001 nautique classic wake, direct drive X star (the first one) classic wake, Malibu wedge unused by just about everybody with an Escape, Towerboy tower fitting expert. Gilbert when did you start wakeboarding dude? Yesterday?

Yeah v-drives are better but for most riders the above are plenty enough to handle.

i never said it was impossible to wakeboard without a tower i said it was easier. and i said a direct drive doesn't have a whole lot of seating for a family. also a wedge is nice add on but not something you absolutely need. notice i also mentioned a fat sack
