hi and welcome. Don't worry about a particular brand of boards, get to a cable or good boat lake with a pro-shop and try out a bunch of boards to see what you like the best. There are more popular brands but it's like Burton for snowboarding - just because you know their name doesn't mean it will work for you.

For boats you should look into the new 'Wakesport' line from Fletcher boats. They're a british company who have been around forever and this is their first wakeboard specific boat that is aimed at people who want a good wake and a fun boat for the family at the same time. They're really good and well worth checking out. hope that helps

If your new to the sport avoid spending loads on a high end board and bindings. Yes you'll look great stnding at the dock with the latest gear but it won't help your riding by trying to learn on an aggressive board.

As for boats it depends on whether your a lake or coastal rider. I'm guessing your from the states so you'll most likely have a lake to ride on. In that case $10,000 will get you a nice nautique, mastercraft, supra or similar which will be ideal for your needs.

Um.. ya $10,000 won't usually get you a nautique, or a mastercraft. An older supra maybe. But personally i learned to ride on a Hyperlite Parks and it didn't slow me down one bit. So like the other guy said try out a lot of boards and pick which one is right for you.

And as for the boat if the wake sucks behind it you can buy Fat Sacks or some other type of weight system to make your wake bigger.

Gilbert, um yah.... it will. In fact, just to highlight this. here is a $10,000 Nautique which just happens to be the predecessor to the finest wake-making hull ever produced (The Super Air 210 - which ain't that different to this boat at all). This hull is the grand-daddy (The 2001 being the galactic grand-daddy in my humble opinion) of great wakeboard boats.

This is all relative, Mastercool didn't specify a currency,

so 10k in GBP could theoretically buy you two Sport Nautiques (although the supply/ demand here I personally think makes finding a decent one for the current equivalent $10kUSD (£5k GBP) a challenge),

or if it's in Zimbabwean dollars the paper is worth more than the currency.
