-- IT'S WAKEBOARDING SEASON --
(get a rope)

Hopefully most of you have been riding for a while now, but
for me up here in the Northwest, it's been slim pickings until now.

It's May, and for me May means I can finally wakeboard without
riding in freezing water with a drysuit or long wetsuit. That and the
days are long enough to actually go after a long day at the office.

Now that riding season has hit, I once again notice things
begin to change. My thoughts change, my daily activities change,
my priorities change, and my pocket changes tends to disappear
for gas money!

This made me realize that there are some obvious signs that
it's wakeboarding season, and naturally, I found ten of them.

-- TOP 10 REASONS YOU KNOW IT'S WAKEBOARDING SEASON --
(I made these up in five minutes, shhh!)

10. When dating and meeting new friends, if they're overweight
it's now an added bonus.

9. You actually get excited to buy gas because it means you'll
wakeboard, AND it adds extra weight to the boat.

8. When someone asks you what you're doing today, you
say, "nothing much". To them, that means you're probably
just going to hang out at home and watch TV. What you really
meant was you're going to be doing "nothing much besides
wakeboarding."

7. On any given day you can name the exact minute the sun will
set. Sample: "It's May 13th, the sun goes down at 8:37, which means
we can stretch it until 8:53 before Johnny Law will write us up."

6. When someone suggest renting a movie, you reply "Why?
We already have FREE4ALL here." When they tell you they'd
like to watch something besides wakeboarding for once, you say
"Good thing I have Linear Perspective, it's all wakeskating."

5. Your math skills drastically improve. You change from
someone who needs a calculator to figure out how many
quarters are in a dollar to someone who can eyeball four fat
sacks and know there's 1241 lbs. of extra weight in the boat,
and that equates to 13.7 inches of added wake height at 75
feet of rope.

4. The amount of wakeboarding e-mails to answer, forums
to moderate, and articles to put on your gigantic and fabulous
wakeboarding web site overwhelms you and makes you weep
silently under your desk like a little child.
(Did I just write that out loud? And maybe this one doesn't
apply to everyone....)

3. A "productive day at work" consists of managing to read every
post for the day in the Wakeboarder.com forums and your boss
didn't catch you doing it.

2. You find yourself hopping off of curbs and landing blind or
doing 360s. (Come on, you know you've done this before,
don't lie.)

1. You spend your time cutting unimportant things out of your
schedule to make more time for wakeboarding. Examples of
such things that get cut are work, school, being with family,
eating, and sleeping.
