Cheers chaps... that'll give me something to try next time I'm out.

One other thing, I've got one of those flat hyperlite wakeskates... do the skates with a decent concave make any difference?

I think it helps. I ride a concave cassette. It's really nice - feels like its stuck to your feet. Can you not borrow one to try?

Nah it wont make much difference at all, its all about your technique, if thats wrong it doesn't matter what board you have.
You wouldn't say the same thing about a top and bottom of the range wakeboard, it works on similar principles!
I went back to my old flat Cassette for a few rides at the end of summer while i was re-laquering my Cassette Concave, it felt wierd going back to it but i could still land my heelside and toeside wake-to-wakes.

How i learnt them originally was by putting the fins back on the board, after one set i felt really comfortable doing them, so for the second set i took them off and for me it was just a mind block or something as i could land them again. Dont know if that'll help you, but give it a go, whats the worse that could happen, also when you go out to ride have confidence in yourself that you will land them.

try to pop with only your back foot. since you are moving and the front of the board is higher the wind will keep it against your feet. once you start to uhhh whats it called. go lower after your peak. i forget. once that happens you can level off the board and get ready for the landing. try it w/ and w/o fins
