I am currently modifying an old, wooden, 43.5 inch cassette flat deck.
After ripping the 4 year old grip tape + glue off (hours of light headed fun with white spirit) and sanding down the whole board (getting rid of that paint job and varnish was no joke believe me), I have now filled in the fin holes/damage with epoxy resin and intend to cut both ends down buy 3/4 inch. When this is completed I shall be left with 42" of virgin marine plywood. I have researched the following dilemmas elsewhere and have come across few definitive conclusions. I need help with the following questions: 1. Is it possible to apply something similar to the 'snowboard style' base of the Integrity '05 Lemons to the bottom of a wood deck? That stuff slides sooooooo good, and just doesn't wear through!!!! 2. What is the best treatment to give the wood to make it totally watertight and stick grip tape to? I know this is a big ask from you guys but I’d really appreciate any help you can provide as I'm fully committed to customising this skate properly. |
