Default Winch Skating at Thorpe

Im thinking of trying to sort out a little run next to the bridge at Thorpe for wakeskating (& wakeboarding?), a few people i have spoken are up for it, just trying to see whether it would be worth going to speak to JB? They have a Hive... Its good if you pay attention to it... Other wise it gets f*$^ed up pretty easy...

Could be a bit of a laugh as its always flat there (except when the boat turns). I have found someone who will supply wood and surface material for free (cheers louis).

What do peeps think???

One of my friends put a similar sort of idea to us. I'm just not sure what the advantage of it is when there is a full setup of rails 100 meters down the path.
Cableskis may be worried that people will turn up just to winch and might even try charging to use water.
The genius behind winching is that you can take it anywhere for next to nothing. Am I right in thinking you have a Grinch anyway? Isn't it better just to find a spot and get as many mates as possible.

Mind you that setup they had at the Quays was sweet. If it was like that and permanent it could be awesome.

Yer dude, im at wakestock this year for SURE!!!

The charging would be a problem... We have already run a day during the big air comp they recently had on at thorpe, if you had a cable ticket you could ride with that. Couple of the management seemed to like the idea of doing it again... Which is a good thing, prob need to keep numbers down though, gets hectic if there are lots of people on it...

I do own a part of the Grinch Its MONEY!!!

i agree with stack, it's kind of missing the point of a winch, but when you take into account the fact that wakeskating on the cable at thorpe can be VERY hard & frustrating due to the wind and the cable swinging around when your on the rail, it would be good to have somewhere thats a bit more sheltered that you can run whenever.
That said, i can't see thorpe ski charging anything less than a ticket (£19) for a winch sesh, which would cost them about 30 pence in fuel so it will fall on it's ass.

I think that would be a cool idea, it would have to be run as an addition to the cable tho price-wise - so you pay for an hour on the cable and can use the winch as well.....

If it's limited to wakeskates only it might be ok in terms of waiting for a go, not sure how the wakeboarders would feel about that, but there again they've got a whacking great cable park to use not 100 yards away......

Got to be worth a conversation at the very least?
