After my emails with BWSF I was asked if it could be made possible and to organise it, I know it costs the same as a wakeboard entry but im trying to find out if it was worth doing, as a one off event on a different date to the wakeboard nationals works in favour but also against i think.
The only way it seems to be done is by someone doing all the running, i know BWSF do a lot of it off their own back for the wakeboard side of things, i thought id ask the question if it would be worth doing it for skate. The amount of time, energy and risk it'd involve im not sure if itd be worth it now.
I agree with you Lee, working together to create something different would probabily be a lot better, easier and cheaper

Firstly there are people in the bwsf who really do want to see wakeskating on the agenda both on cable and on boat. The EAME boat wakeskate championships is in France in August and a i beleive a team will be going from the U.K. unfortunately there are not that many boat wakeskaters compared to cable, for obvious reasons.
There are now quite a few 'wakeboard people' within bwsf working towards acheiving the best for wakeboarders and wakeskaters.
I myself am now on the Boat wakeboard committee, and involved in the Cable wakeboard working group, and i can assure you i have no interest in any other disciplines within bwsf.
Back to cable wakeskate Nationals. It would be a great idea, that will only work with the support of all the cable wakeskaters. The problem with bwsf membership is always going to be an issue if you only do one comp a year, pay it now , and do more than one comp, better value for money, do the wakeskate boat nationals, maybe get selected for the GB team and your on your way to international comps.
I know there are a lot of skaters who don't beleive in competing, and i respect that, but i think there are still quite a few especially some of the younger riders who would like to see how they would do in competition.
If this forum shoes that there is a fair bit of interest in this then it will be taken further, I am not sure of the numbers for wakeskate but you would need to have probably a minimum of 5 riders per category, boys, girls, junior men, junior ladies, open men, open ladies, masters men, masters ladies, maybe even vets (over 40) to run each category. There maybe some eame wakeskate rules on their site, not sure.
I hope it happens.... put me down for the vets..

Unirider, The problem with doing it on the same day as wakeboard Nationals is time restraints. as it is now with wakeboard being run from start to finish in one day it is at its limit and entrys are growing considerably each year. almost to the point where it will have to be run over 2 days as the boat Nationals is. Maybe if it did run int 2 days then it could happen at the same time?
You mention risk.. if the event was run through the bwsf, then the risk is theirs, not yours. How much is it to hire a cable for a day?
It would be hard work to organise , and a lot of input from skaters would be required to run the sort of comp you want.... but you would get the full backing from the wake side of bwsf.

I'd be well up for it if I'm back in the country when it happens. A few cables might be up for it if you ask them, any help needed setting it up, let me know. I'm game to help

I know i could link it in with the Ten Feet High series at Sheffield, as the Wakeboard cable nationals are there this year it would make sense to link the wakeskate there to. If it ran on the same date as one of the TFH stops that eliminates a lot of issues such as ambulance, hiring of cable etc.
