Default winching spots

now that our winch is pretty much bomb proof we decided to venture forth into the Lake District national park to see if we could add some excitment to the natural beauty of the area. We drew a crowd, well 2 Jewish tourists a couple of walkers and an old couple eating their sandwiches but we weren't asked to leave by anybody, so mission accomplished, we have coexisted with nature and skated at the same time-sweet.
Some pics coming when i figure it out.

So do you have to find a suitable object to put the winch behind/on to stop it flying into the water?

yeah we actually had 2 "big ass suv's" mine was in a layby up the road, but at least we weren't off roading so our "big ass suv's" were in perfect harmony with mother nature-their engines were off and not polluting anything! well except when we went half way up Coniston Old Man looking for a tarn we couldn't find, there was a kind of track/path thingy but the crag rats and walkers didn't look too impressed-we were responsible pillagers of natural beauty though, we slowed down from 5mph to 2 mph when we saw other mountain users.(that's not exaggerating either, coniston old man is hell steep in parts).

sorry Jez, the winch was attached to the tow bar on the truck with ratchet straps. when in my truck we can run it from the back of the truck with out even taking it out and putting it on the ground.
sorry forgot to mention that Buzz is a bleedin' genius!
