Default Getting back me robe

Hi I’m not sure if I have posted this in the correct sections but I was hoping you winch guru's could help me shed some light on how to improve or set up our winch system.

I'm very new to the concept of winching and I am lucky enough to work as a water sports instructor who has been giving the opportunity to work with some nice knee boarding/wakeboarding equipment so we can get kids into water sports.

At the moment we have 2 winches set up on 2 separate jetties which pull the kids along (see my very crude diagram attached)

After each pull I have to manually pull the line that the kids were pulled with back to the jetty so the next kid can have a turn.

I was wondering / hoping somebody could help me with a concept that would allow me to use 1 of the winches to do this or some kind pulley system perhaps that makes the pulling back the line allot easier, or is there a piece of equipment I’m missing that does this already ?

Kind Regards
Steve

here is the poor diagram

Ahh my first day back at work after an extended break and this is the best question i've heard so far.

We thought about this a while ago for winching places that are tree lined or have other obsticles on the bank. You could do it with two/one winch and a bucket of rope or 3 winch's if you don't want to do any manual retreival (2 of them being used excluusively for retrieval.)

Two winch's and a pully would also work but it sounds like a good receipe for randomly removing kids limbs.

In your situation I'd do what Lee says and work them kids. You can always have a sweety jar full of plasters for them at the end of the day.

i was looking at a garden hose the other day when i had a hangover and it was on a spool with a handle for retreiving the hose after you've finished washing your car, watering your plants and spraying fit girls in skimpy tops... i thought that the same thing could be used for pulling out a winch line... (by tying a smaller line that doesn't take any strain to the handle or wherever it is out of the way as your drawing suggests- fine for kids but would prob get in the way if you were trying tricks on a skate) i reckon you could get them from most garden centres or DIY shops. to make it easir you could pull it out by pedal power by stipping a bike and linking it up to spin the spool...

once again i'd get the kids to provide the power for the retreival system - i used to be a sailing instructor and kids provide excellent slave labour (i think Nike would agree as well!)

hope this helps...

I came up with an idea but its only half thought out and may have probs especially if its a long run... Its an overhead return system that you just tie the handle to and wind it back... I didnt even attempt a pc drawing you just got a sketch here!...
As I havent had the pleasure of winching YET... I may be missing a few things you guys have already thought about....

any thoughts on this....

Why not install a rixen and then use that to retrieve the handle to your winch?
