don't know if everyone has used this but,

heres a great tool for checking out new winch spots

The Virtual Earth Interactive SDK

scroll across to the uk then zoom right in using arial mode

using the birds eye mode and rotating the view is really cool to check access

aslong as its better than google earth!... i found a couple of places, but when i got there houses were being built right next to the spots! how often are the pictures refreshed?

says on there site that images and photography was updated december 2007

but doesn't say how often it will be refreshed
