Default winch build

well i started putting my winch together today after finally finishing the frame,

still waiting for the TAV2, sprocket and chain to arrive from the states,

engine being swapped in a few weekends time so should be up and running by end of month

not sure whether to spray up the frame or just leave it polished alluminum ??? as i cant decide on a colour,

any idea's, comments or help welcomed !!!

yeah i couldn't find a small fairlead in the uk so i made one to the size i wanted

Looks awesome! Really nice job thus far

On the question of painting the frame - you absolutely need to finish it some how. Powder coat, Paint, lacquer or anodised - if you don't the aluminium will dull and then begin to corrode quite badly, especially if you take it near salt water in its life.

Aluminium is an awesome material but if it's going to get wet it needs to be looked after. I'd advise anodising it if you want a bling finish - but there's some sweet powder coat options available too these days (metallics etc)!

I considered Powder Coating but decided it would probably chip away too easily with the sort of abuse it gets.
