We do running starts behind a truck all the time. We haven't needed to on our winch. but I imagine the principles are the same. Its possible and not too difficult. You just have to have enough speed to get you going. Its the same concept as running and hoping on a skateboard. You have to have enough speed though. The only problem I can see is the coiling of the line. But I havent done it behind a winch so I couldn't tell you for sure.

I think like hussy says a lot may be due to technique. 6.5hp with a tav is enough for deep water. Infact its better at it than my 9hp/clutch winch. Hussy - It may also have something to do with the sprocket size as I think you said you opted for more top end speed when you selected it.

yeah i went for a 6:1 ratio

as i got a #41 TAV2 for a bigger chain it comes with a 10T small sprocket so i got a 60T sprocket for the axle which should be the same as a 12/72 ratio on a #35 chain

i have deep started just kinda sucks that after struggling to get up thats half my run over hahah and really not a good look when some randoms stop and start video'ing you
